Winnie's Blog teamkenya Sep 8

Winnie is a student at Pala High School and a keen member of the All Girls Group . She will be writing her  own blog every week when she visits the resource center  in Ndhiwa .

My name is Awuor Winnie Oduwo.I was born in in the year 1992 at a place called Rabuor village,Gembe East Location ,Mbita Division and in Nyanza Province.I am the second last child in our family,I started learning at Powo Nursery School where I was taught by Madam Florence. I was not yet 6 years old when my father died leaving me behind with my mum taking care of me. I used to sleep away from my mother's care, having been staying with my father in town, on my return, together with my younger brother of a similar age .I began to sleep in my mum's house because there was no older sister in the family and my mother had to go to the shamba (Vegetable plot) everyday. It wasn't long before I was forced to take care of my younger brother when my mum became ill and died, leaving us behind with no one to take care of us. After the death of all parents, our grand mother decided to take us where she was born in Ndhiwa to stay with her brother who is our uncle. This is where I am still staying up to now. Winnie.
